It frustrates some expecting mums when they are advised by their doctors to go on bed rest for all or part of their pregnancy. It might surprise some to know that a suggestion of bed rest during pregnancy affects up to as many as one in five women.

If you are one of those mums-to-be that has been advised to take bed rest during pregnancy, then you need to make your time on the bed as comfortable as you can. Many women find that a pregnancy pillow is great for this. It's not so big that it takes up all of the bed or puts a wedge between you and your partner, and it doesn't take too long get used to either.

Actually, you can purchase what is called the little wedge pregnancy pillow which is simply a wedge shape that expectant mums can place under their tummy when they sleep on their side, or under their back if they sleep or rest their back. It may sound a little uncomfortable or strange to some, but most agree that once they try one, they wonder how they ever slept or rested without it.

Expecting Mums should also pamper themselves and make sure they are sleeping in a good bed. If you are newly pregnant or thinking about starting a family, it's important to take a good look at your bed or bedding and make sure that it's adequate. After all, you could be spending a fair bit of time on it and in it over the coming months, so your comfort is imperative.

A decent bed as well as a specially-designed pregnancy pillow will provide the help your body needs to adjust to its new state, and any mum will tell you that comfort and support is so important during the months of pregnancy.

Pregnant women need to relax as often as possible while carrying child. It's good for mum and it's good for baby. This can be helped by de-cluttering your bedroom if it's being used as a bit of a dumping ground for household miscellaneous items. Soft colours, down comforters, a feather mattress, and a memory foam pillow, can all help at making those carrying months more enjoyable.

Expecting Mum's need plenty of bed rest and by arranging your bedroom to reflect a calming atmosphere will provide the perfect retreat for your partner while she is carrying your child.
